Do you know 和風月名?
If you are an advanced level of Japanese, you can learn Japanese style months which are called “和風月名 wafuugetsumei“.
We often use the name. Especially formal expressions, in letters, newspapers, calendars, or old kinds of literature.
日本語 | ふりがな | Pronunciation | English |
---|---|---|---|
And it is sometimes used as the first name originated in their birth month.
For example, in “Neighbor Totoro”, the names of the sisters are “Mei” and “Satsuki”.
Both names come from “5月”, May and 皐月. I found that lately, and I became really happy! Lol
